Where We Started

Speedstream Technology Group was founded in 2016 by Scott Jones after years working inside the carrier world. He had watched too many businesses sign contracts that favored the carrier far more than the company paying the bill. Carrier quotas shaped recommendations. Internal politics slowed service delivery. When issues came up, clients were left navigating hold queues and generic support lines on their own.

Speedstream was built on a better idea: a trusted telecom partner that works exclusively for the business, never the carrier. One that shops every major carrier, negotiates the strongest possible terms, coordinates seamless installations, and stays fully engaged long after the contract is signed.

As the business grew, three partners joined, each with deep roots in the industry. Scott Pendleton specializes in wireline solutions, including fiber and voice services. Steve Leclerc leads wireless and mobility, delivering solutions across the full range of major carriers. Kevin Collinsworth heads marketing strategy and brand growth, with a degree from Wright State University and a track record of helping businesses become market leaders in their industries.

Together, the four partners bring more than 50 years of combined telecom experience and a shared commitment to client-first advocacy.

Today, Speedstream compares solutions across more than 200 carriers. We negotiate contracts, manage implementations, audit bills, and resolve issues quickly. But what we take the most pride in is what happens after the deal closes: every client has one dedicated number to call and a real person who answers.

Scott has been in telecom since he was 18. After years on the carrier side, he made the move to the broker channel because he wanted to focus on clients, not quotas. He spent his first day in the field acquiring his first customer within two hours. That instinct hasn’t changed. Scott handles enterprise accounts, multi-site deployments, and the kind of complicated deals that require someone who knows which calls to make.

Scott Pendleton came to telecom from the carrier side, spending years in AT&T’s business solutions division before deciding he’d rather work for the client than the quota. He joined Speedstream to do exactly that. He specializes in B2B connectivity, phone systems, and cybersecurity, and he doesn’t think of his accounts as clients. He thinks of them as partners.

Steve leads wireless and mobile solutions for Speedstream out of Minnesota. He specializes in AT&T mobility partnerships for complex business accounts, and has built strong relationships across carrier teams that give clients faster access to solutions that aren’t always visible through standard channels. When a deal has a mobile component, Steve is in the room.

Kevin brings a marketing degree from Wright State University and a track record of helping businesses become leaders in their markets. His background in telecom gives him a firsthand understanding of the products and carrier relationships that drive every client engagement. He leads marketing and brand strategy for Speedstream, and is the first call for clients who want to understand their options before committing to anything.

Not long ago, Scott was wrapping up the telecom for a client who’d been with Speedstream for nearly a decade. The client was retiring. Closing a company that had been in business for eighty years. The fiber connection, the redundant circuit, the phone system: all coming down.

The one thing the client cared about was keeping his phone number. He’d had it for decades. So even as everything else was being disconnected, Speedstream found an inexpensive single-seat solution that let him keep it. They handled the wind-down of each service, stayed with him through the whole process, and made sure the last call on that number was on his terms.

That’s not a sales story. There was no new deal at the end of it. It’s just what the job looks like when you take it seriously.
